Recovery site

A backup site (also work area recovery site or just recovery site) is a location where an organization can relocate following a disaster, such as fire, flood, terrorist threat, or another disruptive event. This is an integral part of the disaster recovery plan and wider business continuity planning of an organization.

Types

cold site A barebones redundant site for a network that requires time and effort to bring online.

warm site: A redundant site that can be brought online with minimal time and effort.

hot site: A redundant datacenter location that is ready to replace a failed datacenter with little to no time or effort.

cloud site: A recovery site in the cloud that can be configured for cold, warm, or hot behavior, typically with ease. Cloud sites offer lower costs and relaxed technological requirements compared to physical recovery sites.
