From March 13, 2006, to June 30, 2020, WPA2 certification was mandatory&hellip;&lt;\/p&gt;\n\">WPA2<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WPA3 support has been mandatory for devices which bear the &#8220;Wi-Fi CERTIFIED&#x2122;&#8221; logo since July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new standard uses an equivalent 192-bit cryptographic strength in <a href=\"https:\/\/edk-tech.net\/?glossary=wpa-enterprise-mode\"\r\n                    class=\"yaw-glossary yaw-glossary-alt-link\"\r\n                    title=\"WPA Enterprise mode\"\r\n                    data-bs-toggle=\"popover\"\r\n                    data-bs-html=\"true\"\r\n                    data-bs-trigger=\"hover focus\"\r\n                    data-bs-content=\"&lt;p&gt;A security mode introduced with WPA2 designed for corporate environments, using 802.1X authentication with a RADIUS server to provide robust security and individual user credentials. The WPA3-Enterprise mode standard uses 192-bit cryptographic strength (AES-256 in GCM mode with SHA-384 as&hellip;&lt;\/p&gt;\n\">WPA3-Enterprise mode<\/a> (AES-256 in GCM mode with SHA-384 as HMAC) and still mandates the use of CCMP-128 (AES-128 in CCM mode) as the minimum encryption algorithm in <a href=\"https:\/\/edk-tech.net\/?glossary=wpa-personal-mode\"\r\n                    class=\"yaw-glossary yaw-glossary-alt-link\"\r\n                    title=\"WPA Personal mode\"\r\n                    data-bs-toggle=\"popover\"\r\n                    data-bs-html=\"true\"\r\n                    data-bs-trigger=\"hover focus\"\r\n                    data-bs-content=\"&lt;p&gt;Also known as WPA-PSK (Pre-Shared Key), a security protocol for Wi-Fi networks that uses a shared password for authentication without requiring an enterprise authentication server. The WPA3 standard replaces the pre-shared key (PSK) exchange with Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE)&hellip;&lt;\/p&gt;\n\">WPA3-Personal mode<\/a>. TKIP is not allowed in WPA3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WPA3 standard also replaces the pre-shared key (PSK) exchange with Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE) exchange, a method originally introduced with IEEE 802.11s, resulting in a more secure initial key exchange in personal mode and forward secrecy. The Wi-Fi Alliance also says that WPA3 will mitigate security issues posed by weak passwords and simplify the process of setting up devices with no display interface.
